Yes, the collective West has done immense and unconscionable damage not only to the Palestinians and in particular innocent children, but also to themselves. And ironically it has done grave damage to Israel by allowing and enabling it to become the monster that it is, like parents who indulge their child to the point where it turns into an incorrigible and demanding holy terror.
It's all peoples who have been scarred. I talked to a few last night on a Zoom meeting who said, "No one should use being anti/pro-genocide as a litmus test for supporting a candidate." I was royally ticked off and told them so and signed off... Westerners have damaged themselves possibly beyond fixing. We are "holy terrors".

Your previous poems have brought tears to my eyes, but here you have frozen my heart; my chest hangs heavily, overwhelmed by grief, and yet I am so grateful for these words.
It is well documented that children who are mistreated by parents grow up with many problems. There is no way that they children of Gaza will ever be able to grow up feeling good about the world or themselves. The news makes me feel physically sick these days.
I can't imagine that the physical, emotional and psychological trauma that has been inflicted upon these young children will be anything but irreparable.
This Trump/white supremacy/ Christian hate/billionaire regime is degrading the best parts of America.. the freedom, the diversity, the fighting for equality and winning. the discussions of literature, the discussions of art in America, the issues about our domestic situations....Gay marriage!
