"So, how did Dutch police, Dutch and western politicians, and the mainstream media react?"
Every Dutch and every european politician knows full well whom they answer to and what their American Master expects of them. Some minor Americna functionary snaps his fingers, and european knees hit the floor with a resolute thud, grateful for being given the opportunity to service Master.
Don't like what I wrote? Then don't act like that.
The American political leadership and media unfortunately answer to the Zionists. Israel is the obviously the power and America a vassal. I am ashamed of my country’s leadership for that. And I am a Catholic, and 4 of my brothers and I served active duty in the US military; I don’t take my humility of this lightly
Basically, yes. Although, to be fair europe is also America's little bitch in matters that have nothing to do with Israel. European leaders are eager to show America who is the loyalest little lackey over Ukraine and China, for instance.
No to the racism that's being unleashed by this behaviour towards both Arabs and Jews!
No to the gaslighting that makes it so hard for people to find out what's really going on in the world!
So many Jewish people have not only led protests against the genocide Israel is committing in Gaza, but are also telling their stories about the Zionist indoctrination they receive, and are working hard to get over and to let others know about it.
Our western leaders and mainstream media have failed humanity. It's up to ordinary people to lead us all to higher ground. We can't descend into lies, racism and violence. We need to heal ourselves and each other and our one and only planet that provides life for us all.
Jews who hate this as much as I and many others do, MUST fight like hell to make it stop. I am sure that many fine Jews have donated and traveled to Palestine/Israel.
Did they know what was going on before Oct 7? How could they not??
They are not as powerful as the Lobby and the other forces that have allowed this evil. They are up against the US government and their Jewish family and friends.
Are they just leading protests to distance themselves from the hatred that will come down against Jewish people?
Can they do more?? Much much more.
Donate to Palestinian causes. (BTW, it's not tax deductible. I know, because I am donating via Zelle.)
I'm not Jewish, so I can't answer these questions, but my guess is people discovered what's been going on in Palestine at different times. And my sense is that the Jewish people leading protests are as appalled as we are.
My understanding is that Jewish people aren't necessarily Zionists. Many are not. As well, a lot of Zionists are Christians. I don't understand it exactly, but just because you're Jewish doesn't mean your Zionist.
Right. But the Zionists have taken over and apparently, there are more "Christian" Zionists than Jewish Zionists. Both very crazy believers in their individual dogma that supports genocide: the sadistic extermination of 7 million perfectly nice people.
Very good article, Diane. I am totally disgusted by all of this bootlicking to Israel and the U.S. and I am an American. This bs needs to stop. It’s as plain as the nose on one’s face: black and brown people don’t matter especially if they’re Muslim/Arab - Palestinian Muslim or Christian (a lot of Palestinians are Christian as well). 😢☮️🇵🇸
The young drunk football spectators are like gasoline in need of a spark to erupt. This eruption between fans is not new for Europeans, except for the fact that one side of the fights is superior, and protect by a mafia gangs who scared the shit out of all governments around the world.
Many may not realise that Israel often calls upon political leaders to denounce antisemitism in the wake of violent incidents. This was particularly evident in Europe around 2015, following a series of terrorist attacks targeting Jewish communities.
In recent weeks, Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Netanyahu, have characterised the clashes in Amsterdam as a pogrom against Jews. However, substantial evidence suggests that Israeli fans instigated the violence with racist and inflammatory slogans.
Media and political narratives surrounding such incidents frequently portray Jewish or Israeli victims, regardless of the facts. Amsterdam serves as a prime example, where, despite evidence implicating Israeli fans, the focus remains on highlighting antisemitism and drawing parallels to historical atrocities like Kristallnacht.
I reference these earlier events in Europe because Netanyahu and others have had a history of using antisemitic incidents to suggest that Jews should relocate to Israel for their safety. This aligns with broader Israeli strategies to encourage aliyah, particularly during times of global unrest, and some speculate that it serves Israel’s demographic and geopolitical objectives. Given the developments over the past 13 months, what should we think in hindsight?
While there is no concrete evidence to suggest that Israel orchestrates or fabricates events such as terrorism or antisemitic violence, the framing of these incidents often aligns with Israeli interests, such as fostering international sympathy or reinforcing narratives about Jewish vulnerability abroad. Considering the media's tendency to misrepresent facts and the fear politicians have of deviating from the Israeli narrative, it is crucial to scrutinise some of these past events more closely.
The organisation following these incidents is often staggering. The volume of letters sent to politicians urging them to speak out in defence of Israel is not only intimidating but also appears far more coordinated than a mere knee-jerk reaction to these ‘unforeseen’ events.
The emotional manipulation that Israel exerts on Jews in the West through its framing of events and educational practices—particularly in Israeli faith schools—is nothing short of exploitative.
The situation in Amsterdam has revealed just a glimpse of this dynamic, and it will require courageous investigative journalism to fully uncover a potential alternative truth.
I am not suggesting that Jewish communities do not regularly and genuinely experience terrible racism and violence; we know they do, and this is obviously unexceptional. However, when such incidents occur, they are regularly manipulated by the Israeli state to further its own agenda, often at the expense of Jewish interests and those of anyone living on this planet, except for the Israeli state itself.
Thanks for your insightful comment, James! In his most recent book, Lobbying for Zionism on Both Sides of the Atlantic, historian Ilan Pappe details exactly how Zionists (Israeli, Jewish, Christian) have historically and systematically influenced political policies and messaging about Israel. A must read for anyone who's interested in knowing the truth about Israel!
We are experiencing on a daily basis how absolutely rotten our society has become. Most of the leadership should be put on trial for enabling a genocide which now has spread into Lebanon. What examples are we setting for our young? Shame on our leaders, and not in my name! When the Nazis committed genocide, it's called the Holocaust. When Zionist Jews commit genocide, it's called self-defense.
Amsterdam, where I've lived for many years, is filled with reminders of the Holocaust, for good reason: of the pre-war Jewish population of 80,000, only 5,000 survived. It is a trauma that is seared in the collective memory. We are constantly reminded: Never forget. Never again. So why are we so indifferent to another genocide taking place? Any criticism of Israel is denounced as "antisemitic". To be sure, there are people here demonstrating and protesting, but it's a small majority; the vast majority react with indifference. Perhaps things are finally beginning to change though; this week the national daily "Trouw" came out with editorial declaring what is happening in Gaza a genocide, and calling for an end to the death and destruction.
Minor detail: Gideon Saar is the foreign minister of Israel, not the Netherlands.
Thanks for the correction! I'll fix that. Like the Germans, the Dutch have learned only to feel eternally guilty. But I don't see how they can atone for their guilt by supporting Israel's genocide. It just doesn't make any sense.
I heard somewhere that the Germans are pretty sheeplike. Going along with the program.
I have a sister in law whose parents came from Germany. She taught German and has traveled there many times with her students. She told me she had to support Israel because Germany does. She sent that article from the NYtimes about the Amsterdam "Jew Hunters".....I tried to inform her that it was complete bull. She listens without responding. I am 3/4 German genetically but never identified with Germany. Now, I'm not identifying with the USA either. I live in Mexico and wish I had applied for Mexican Citizenship.......
It's dangerous to generalize about Germans but I'd say from having lived and worked in Germany that the burden of collective guilt and shame for the Holocaust lies at the core of German political support for Israel. I wouldn't call Germans sheep-like, even though they tend to defer to authority. They are, however, more politically aware and active than North Americans and will hit the streets to oppose government policies or actions. The more prominent German characteristics are thoroughness, and a preoccupation with orderliness, perfection, appearance and status. When Germans do something, they tend to go to extremes which, on the upside, produces high quality workmanship and engineering— why wealthy people drive a BMW, a Mercedes or a Porsche. A German house is also much better built and longer to last than a Canadian one. On the downside, this tendency to go overboard produces what happened during the Third Reich, and what is happening now in regard not only to Germany's whole-hearted support for Israel but also the drastic crackdown on pro-Palestinian protests. By some bizarre twist of logic, German politicians think that in order to absolve Germany of the past they must support Israel, which by the way is a founding principle of the German state, and defend Jewish life and culture at all costs when the Nazi past should morally obligate them to vehemently oppose the genocide in Gaza and actively assist South Africa's case before the ICJ. The good thing is that according to a recent survey 69% of the German population finds Israel's actions in Gaza unjustified, and younger Germans are much less susceptible to collective guilt than older generations. But as we see in the West, politicians do not give a damn about what the general public thinks, and line up like good little puppy dogs with the USA.

Lets face it the whole world is a hostage of Israel at the moment.

A few more “Nos”

It would be only just if the ICC arrest warrants had an effect, but that's probably wishful thinking!

Shame on them, shame on everyone who cowtows to Isreal
That holocaust horseshit needs to be cleared up too, more lies from the jews- Im so sick of hearing about it. No one talks about Holodomor!
No- do not say human animals, first, they are not human in any way & please dont compare that behavior to animals. Animals would never act like that.
You’re absolutely right. I meant ‘human animals’ ironically as that is how Gallant referred to the Palestinians.
