How Much Worse Can It Get?

Just when you’re starting to wonder if the statements that politicians come out with about the conflict in Gaza can get any more outrageous, callous and insane, they can. And they do. Take the one GOP Rep. Tim Walberg made on Monday, Easter Monday, at a town hall meeting in Michigan. And while he was being video recorded!

Here it is: “I don’t think any of our aid that goes to Israel to support our greatest ally, arguably maybe in the world, to defeat Hamas and Iran and Russia, and probably North Korea’s in there, and China, too, with them in helping—in helping, uh, uh, Hamas. Um, we shouldn’t be spending a dime on humanitarian aid. It - it should be like Nagaski and Hiroshima. Get it over quick!”

Then the guy had the temerity afterwards (I hesitate to say “balls” on the presumption that he has none) to walk it back by explaining that he “used a metaphor to convey the need for both Israel and Ukraine to win their wars as swiftly as possible, without putting American troops in harm’s way. My reasoning was the exact opposite of what is being reported: the quicker these wars end, the fewer innocent lives will be caught in the cross fire.” (The italics are mine.)

And this coming from an ordained Baptist pastor? I cannot help but wonder which divinity school Walberg attended? Either the guy wasn’t paying very close attention in class or he joined a Satanic cult on the side where he had way more fun because he sure didn’t get Jesus’s message and he couldn’t have graduated cum laude! Besides which he’s no poet, either! Or a critical thinker!

Is this man so stupid that he believes people will buy the “metaphor” bull shit when any reasonably educated person will automatically associate Nagasaki and Hiroshima with the only nuclear attack on predominantly civilian populations, and one of the most atrocious and unprosecuted war crimes in history? And he should damn well know it! Metaphor, my ass! He meant it, literally! And if he didn't, someone should slam him on the head with an illustrated history of WWII!

If Walberg and his ilk are so eager to stop innocent lives from getting “caught in the crossfire” boo-hoo, it would be one helluva lot quicker to 1. to impose an immediate ceasefire, 2. stop continuously and generously supplying Israel with overkill weapons 3. expedite the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid, and 4. SIT DOWN AND NEGOTIATE A PERMANENT AGREEMENT, for cryin’ out loud! But then reprobates like Walberg would lose their AIPAC and war lobby funding, wouldn’t they?

What should really happen to the Walbergs, Bidens, Netanyahus, Sunaks, Scholzes, Macrons et al of the world is this: they get booted out of office. They get pilloried or tarred and feathered, then run out of town after which they slither back into the swamp, the jungle, or the bog where they were conceived and hatched. Because spiritually, morally, mentally, these “so-called” leaders and lawmakers are still living in caves and thrashing around in the dark!
