Great poem, Diane.

Europe seems to be in a war frenzy.

How do citizens there feel, I wonder, about more senseless killing in an unwinnable war and, of course, more austerity so they can fund this never ending slaughter?

The warmongering "leaders" in Europe don't give a shit about what their citizens want or think. Assholes like Macron, Starmer, Merz, van der Leyen, Rutte, Kallas, even the Danish prime minister, are totally bent on war with Russia no matter what! It makes you wonder if their madness wasn't caused by the food they eat or the air they breathe!

I hope Europeans rise up. They can't get their brains out of elitist colonial thinking, can they, Diane?

The question is: who's listening and who cares?

Diana van Eyk's avatar

With so much being suppressed, I have a feeling it's a lot more people than we think who are listening and caring, Diane.

But not, you can bet your last dollar, that it's not the political leaders in Europe!

Excellent points, Diane! Hey, maybe it's also in the vaccines they took to screw up their thinking.

Brava, Diane!

It's a good one, Diane. Who is behind the European push to gang up and go to war against Russia, who has no intention of invading Europe which is part of Imperial Amerika's failing empire, as vassal, obedient nations who have given up their national cultures and all in conforming to the dysfunction European Union and the henchmen of NATO, submissive to US whims.

Very good Diane. I couldn’t agree more. I love that song and it’s on my playlist. Every time it comes up I turn it up and start singing along. Another one is “Imagine” by the late, timeless John Lennon, as well.

Imagine what Lennon could imagine now!

I guess I have a somewhat different, perhaps naive and unpopular, view of the European leaders. Instead of viewing them as warmongers, I have seen them more as forming a coalition of nations to protect Ukraine (and ultimately themselves) against Russian domination now that the US has exposed its amoral, greedy and ugly side.

It is crucial to keep in mind that, contrary to popular belief as promulgated by Western media, there are no innocents here. After the 2014 Maidan coup and up until 2022, Ukraine was deeply split between the heavily Banderite influenced pro-West, and the pro-Russian East as well as involved in a bloody civil war against the predominantly Russian ethnic population i, the Donbas. Putin did not wake up one morning and decide to invade Ukraine, or to conquer it and wipe it, or the rest of Europe, off the map, and Zelensky is not the plucky freedom fighter that he is made out to be. A good source for historical background: War in Ukraine: Making Sense of a Senseless Conflict by Medea Benjamin and Nicolas Davies, https://orbooks.com/catalog/war-in-ukraine/ But one has to read it with an open mind!

Shirley, please don't fall for the Western European (and American) propaganda campaign about Russian aggression or domination, as it's subterfuge in scaring the average European who believes what they see or read or listen to by the large capitalist media companies who are extremely biased against Russia. Ukraine is a corrupt country and Zelensky is a dictator, whose term in office at the end of June, 2024, but declared "martial law" as he knew the Ukrainian people would probably vote him out and hopefully elect a person wanting peace.

Looks like we both have our issues with propaganda

I beg your pardon about propaganda issues, but I suggest you read the Medea Benjamin/Nicolas Davies article which Diane listed above, for starters. The 2014 coup, which overthrew the democratically elected government and the un-United States backed with millions of taxpayer dollars, backing the Neo-Nazi anti-Russian Banderite group, because when the corrupt and financially broke Ukrainian government asked the infamous "international bankers" (the IMF and World Bank) for a loan, they agreed but with massive "austerity" cuts to pay the loan plus the usurious interest rate. When they asked the Russian Federation for a similar loan, the Russkies gave Ukraine a better deal, lower rates and a longer repayment term. The US couldn't stand that and supported the anti-Russian group listed above, and when the Russian speaking and pro-Russian Ukrainians in the Donbas region wanted no part of a Nazi regime in Kiev, they broke away and asked the complacent Putin for help. Meanwhile, the Nazi Azov Battalion bombarded the cities in that region, killing approximately 14,000 civilians. For several years, the Russians ONLY sent over humanitarian convoys with food and other stuff, and finally, after umpteen pleas from the Donbas people to intervene militarily, did the Russian send in the military.
