Blinken's Favorite Things

my response (apologies to Rodgers and Hammerstein) to Secretary of State Antony Blinken's statements last week

On December 22, Aaron Maté published an excellent article in which he quoted Secretary of State Antony Blinken:

“I hear virtually no one saying, demanding of Hamas that it stop hiding behind civilians, that it lay down its arms, that it surrender. This is over tomorrow if Hamas does that,” Blinken complained.  “How can it be that there are no demands made of the aggressor, and only demands made of the victim?”

In the photo, Blinken looked so disgusted and disconcerted that I re-wrote “My Favorite Things” to cheer him up (although he’ll never hear or see it). Nevertheless, here goes!

F-16 fighter jets, cluster bombs, tanks, 
All of these goodies for which Israel gives thanks,
Bloodshed, destruction, the glory war brings,
These are Tony Blinken's favorite things.

When the world gangs up on Israel,
When he's feeling mad,
He must simply remember his favorite things,
And then he won't feel so bad.
